* Charlotte, NC was originally selected as the host city for the 2020 Republican National Convention. On June 11, 2020 it was announced that while some limited business would be conducted in Charlotte, the main convention activities would be moved to Jacksonville, FL. The decision was made when North Carolina authorities could not guarantee that delegates would be able to congregate in large numbers indoors due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On July 23, 2020 as numbers of COVID-19 cases rose rapidly in Florida, the situation reversed.  Jacksonville was cancelled, and convention activities would be limited to those in Charlotte.
