McCain Campaign Press Release - Statement by Colonel Tom Moe on Gen. Wesley Clark's Attack on John McCain

ARLINGTON, VA-- Ohio Veterans for McCain Chair Colonel Tom Moe, USAF (Ret.) today issued the following statement regarding Gen. Wesley Clark's attack on John McCain's military service record on "Face the Nation":

"The Obama campaign's disgraceful attacks on John McCain's military service are unworthy of the 'new politics' Barack Obama claims to represent. John McCain has proven his leadership and courage by putting his country first in the most trying of times, refusing early release from prison and standing strong with his fellow POWs. Barack Obama should realize that these tactics have no place in this campaign, and he can make that clear by denouncing these reprehensible comments."

Colonel Tom Moe retired from the Air Force in 1995. He was shot down and captured by the North Vietnamese in January 1968. Like Sen. McCain, Col. Moe refused early release from the "Hanoi Hilton." They were released together in March 1973. After returning to the United States, Col. Moe earned his master's degree in international relations from Notre Dame University, where he later served as a professor of aerospace studies and commander of the Air Force ROTC program.
